Shingles

Decorative asphalt (and/or fiberglass) shingles

Asphalt shingles are by far the most popular roofing choice. Organic shingles consist of a wood-fiber base that is saturated with asphalt. A fiberglass shingle consists of a fiberglass mat, top and bottom layers of asphalt. They are coated with a layer of mineral granules that protect the shingle from sunlight, drugs add color, and in some cases, help resist algae and fungus growth. Manufacturers can discourage unwanted plant life by adding copper or zinc to the granule mix.

Traditional 3-Tab Shingles

3-tab shingles

Referred to as “three-tab” due to their rectangular shape with two notches that create the appearance of three separate shingles, these traditional shingles are a perennial favorite due to their reliability and proven track record. Available in a wide range of colors and warranty lengths, they offer exceptional roofing value.

Premium Architectural Shingles

Architectural Shingles

Premium shingle products are called “architectural”, “dimensional” or even sometimes “high definition”. These thicker, often laminated shingles cast shadow lines like a thick wood shake. As you can see in the picture above, the result is a rich, textured appearance rather than the traditional flat surface of standard three-tab shingles.

Providing durability, low maintenance and the great looks of a shake-like appearance at a very attractive price, these shingles are built to last with double-layer construction and a tough, modified sealant for superior tear strength values and greater resistance to high winds. They also carry a limited Lifetime warranty.
